The tale

Welcome to the Craftsmith
Hey folks, my name is Seif, which funnily enough means “Sword” in my native language.
I have always loved two things growing up; swords, and making things, therefore, by the time I was in college my dream was to become a blacksmith. Fast forward many years later, I now live in Ireland, I am a dad of two little boys, and have a full time job. However, I still enjoy making things, and with two toddlers around the house, I need a hobby. Then came my introduction to the glorious world of HEMA a few years ago. Between the history, the sword of course, and the vibrant community that came with it, HEMA quickly became an obsession of mine.
The crafty bit started when I was spending an evening at home and grabbed some leftover paint I had lying around and started painting my own mask. My work got some interest from others in my club, and so I began painting masks. Next thing I realised was that some of my gear did not quite fit my needs, and I decided to start designing and creating my own. That’s when it clicked, and it quickly grew from making a pair of forearms for myself, to making custom protective HEMA gear for fencers, both within my club and beyond. This meant combining two of my passions to eventually create what you see here today. I will always be incredibly grateful to my friends, club members, and all of you for the encouragement and support which allows me to be where I am today.I may not have become a blacksmith, but this is close enough for me 😉

Welcome to my creative corner of handmade HEMA gear. I hope you enjoy my designs. Drop me a message if you have any ideas you’d like to see made!
